René Richetin was a French painter and graphic artist. Born in the city of Vierzon in central France. In 1940 he graduated from the School of Fine Arts (l’Ecole des beaux-arts) in Paris. From 1945 he was engaged in abstract painting. He was a member of the Cobra group (1949 – 1952), was friends with its founders Pierre Aleshinsky, Karel Appel and Asger Jorn. In 1965 he issued a manifesto “Le pop et l’aristo”. Fourteen works by René Rishten are kept in the Musée d’arts de Nantes.
